Backup Solution for Poor Connectivity: Offline Scanning Mode is designed as a failover solution for situations with unreliable internet. For optimal real-time validation, use standard scanning modes whenever you have stable network connectivity.

Offline Scanning Mode

Offline Scanning Mode provides a reliable backup option for scanning tickets when you have unstable or non-existent internet connectivity. This feature uses a locally stored backup of your event’s ticket data to validate scans, allowing you to continue checking in attendees without interruption.

How Offline Scanning Works

1

Automatic Local Data Sync

The app automatically syncs your event’s ticket data every three minutes when it’s open and connected to the internet, storing this information locally on your device
2

Access Offline Mode

When experiencing network issues, tap Scan Offline at the top of the “Admit” screen, right next to “Scan Anything”
3

Scan Using Local Data

The app validates scans using the locally stored backup data, displaying a timestamp showing when the last successful sync occurred
Offline Scanning Mode is enabled by default in the app’s settings and does not require additional setup.

When to Use Offline Scanning Mode

Use Offline Scanning Mode specifically for:
  • Poor internet connectivity at your venue
  • No internet connection available
  • Network outages during your event
  • Backup validation when primary connectivity fails
For the most reliable and real-time ticket validation, we strongly recommend using the standard “Scan Anything” mode or event-specific admission options whenever you have stable network connectivity.

Important Limitations

Due to the offline nature of this feature, be aware of these potential issues:
Recently Sold Tickets: Tickets sold after the last data sync will not be in the local backup and will not scan as valid in Offline Mode.Cross-Device Admissions: If another device has admitted a ticket after the last data sync, that information won’t be reflected on your device, potentially allowing duplicate scans.

Features Not Available in Offline Mode

The following features require an internet connection and are not supported in Offline Mode:
  • Waivers: Waiver processing requires online connectivity
  • Attendee Photos: Photo capture and validation needs network access
  • Square Product Redemption: Product sales require real-time processing

Best Practices for Offline Scanning

1

Ensure Recent Sync

Keep the app open with internet connectivity for at least 5 minutes before your event to ensure the most recent ticket data is synced locally
2

Monitor Sync Status

Check the last sync timestamp displayed during offline scanning to understand how current your local data is
3

Return Online When Possible

Switch back to standard scanning modes as soon as network connectivity is restored to ensure real-time validation
4

Coordinate Between Devices

If using multiple devices, establish communication protocols between scanning stations to minimize duplicate admissions
