Scanning Quickstart Guide

1. Download & Install

  • iOS: App Store
  • Android: Google Play
  • Ensure your device meets OS requirements and has a stable internet connection.

2. Logging In & Setup

  • Use your organizer credentials to log in.
  • Ensure your account owner has added you before attempting to sign in. Ensure that you have verified the email. If your email is not verified, you will not be able to log in

3. Permissions

  • The SimpleTix organizer app requires the following permissions:
    • Camera for scanning tickets
    • Location for selling tickets
    • Bluetooth for connecting to Square Hardware

4. Settings

  • Click the Hamburger button on the top left and click Settings to access the app settings
  • Customizing the device name will let you see which device a ticket is scanned by if using multiple scanning devices
  • Scanner - select if you want to use the device’s camera to scan tickets or use a Bluetooth scanner (currently SocketScanners are supported)
  • Select which camera you want to use to scan tickets. We recommend the front camera for iPads in a Square Stand and the back camera for smartphones
  • Select your Square version. Use Reader SDK in the US and POS Api outside the US
    If you are not in the US make sure you select POS API and ensure that you have the Square POS downloaded and logged in to your device. When you checkout, the app will redirect your cart into the Square app for final payment
  • Make your printer selection (if applicable)
  • Automatic logout timer - select how frequently you want the app to log out
  • Set the Scan Result timer - you can select how quickly the scan results will disappear after scan

5. Selling Tickets

  • SimpleTix automatically connects to your linked Square account.
  • Supported Hardware:
    • ✅ Square Stand (Version 2)
    • ✅ Square Chip Card Reader
    • ❌ Square Terminal & Register (Not Supported)
  1. To sell tickets:
  • Navigate to the Sell section.
  • Select your event
  • Add tickets to the cart
  1. To sell products:
  • Click Products on the top rail to see Square Items
  • Add more items from your Square catalog in the Manager Portal
  1. Select your payment method:
  • Select Credit / Debit, Complimentary, or Cash. To sell Complimentary or Cash tickets ensure that they are enabled in the Box Office Settings in the Manager Portal.
  1. Enter attendee information
  • Attendee information requirement settings can be found in Settings > Box Office on the Manager Portal.
  1. Process the transaction
  • Afterwards, you can admit the tickets by Clicking Admit All, or click View Attendees and swipe tickets one by one

6. Admission management

  1. Click Admit on the top rail
  2. Select the upcoming event you want to manage. You will then see the list of attendees. You can manually admit them by swiping right and unadmit them by swiping left
  3. You can edit the photos or names associated with each attendee. Clicking on the attendee will let you see attendee questions, order notes, or click in to see their order

7. Scaning

  1. Click Scan Anything mode if you want to scan all valid tickets
  2. Click into an event and click the QR code on the bottom right of the screen to only scan tickets for that event
  3. When a QR code is scanned a popup will appear showing you whether or not the ticket is valid. If it is green, the ticket has been scanned. If it is red, there will be a description of why the ticket is not valid.

8. Order Management

  1. Click Orders on the top tab
  2. Search by name, email, phone number, or the last 4 digits of the purchaser’s credit card
  3. Clicking on the order to see the line items in there. You can re-email the tickets or text the attendee. Click cancel orders to delete the order without a refund.
  4. Clicking Admit Now will admit all tickets in the order
  5. Clicking view attendees will show all attendees in the order. You can admit tickets one by one by swiping right (or left to unadmit)
  6. You can refund an order in full in the app. For partial refunds, please use the Manager Portal.
  7. You can add an order note by scrolling down in the Order Details screen
