Understanding Reserved Seating Events
- Each ticket ties to a specific seat in a chart.
- Attendees can choose seats.
- Reserved seating is ideal for concerts, theaters, or any event needing well-defined seat assignments.
Can You Mix GA & Reserved in One Event?
- Yes, you can create General Admission areas in a reserved seating chart.
Does SimpleTix support booths and tables?
- Yes, we have robust support for booths for conferences and tables for dinners and galas. Tables can both be booked in their entirety or sold seat by seat.
Creating a New Reserved Seating Event

Start a New Event
- Log in to Manager Portal → Events → Create New Event.
- Provide basic details (name, image, description, etc.).

Enable Reserved Seating
- When asked if this is a “Reserved Seating” event, click Yes
- Select an existing venue seating chart or build a new layout.

Design Your Seating Chart
- Manual Layout: Use the built-in chart editor.
- Upload a Chart: If you have a custom CSV or seating map, reach out to SimpleTix Support for assistance.
- Define Sections & Pricing (e.g., VIP, Balcony, etc.).

Save & Test
- Preview your event page, ensuring seat labeling and event info match your goals.
Ticket Types & Pricing Management
Defining Ticket Types
- Add or rename categories like “Balcony,” “VIP,” “Student,” “Adult,” or “Comp.”
- For each type, set:
- Price (with any additional fees).
- These ticket types need to match the categories on your seating chart.
Sub-Price Levels or Promo Codes
- Sub-price levels let you create multiple price options within a single category.
- Alternatively, promo codes can handle discounts for certain groups without complicating the seat map.
- You can password protect tickets which means the section will show up as sold out until a password is entered in the promo code field.
Changing an Active Event
- Best Practice: Do not edit a seating chart for an event that has already sold tickets. Please reach out to SimpleTix Support for assistance instead.
- If you are trying to edit a seating chart for a new event and there is an existing event using that chart, best practice is to duplicate the seating chart. Do this by creating a new Reserved Seating event, selecting the old venue, and selecting Clone chart when prompted.
