How to Customize Categories for Reserved Seating

Modified on Fri, 8 Sep, 2023 at 12:12 PM

While creating an event, Categories within Reserved Seating Events can be customized further to match your event needs.

NOTE: This can only be done as long as no ticket is sold and the reserved seating venue is new. These options will not be available for an old venue (With past events) and have had any tickets sold for the current event.

  • Each created category will have its default color assigned for the seating chart. You can change this to match your venue colors or business branding.

1. To change the color of the assigned seat, within Step 3 of creating your Reserved Seating Event, look for the ticket category you want to edit.

Another customization available for categories is Password Protection.

  • This allows you to limit who can purchase which ticket.

  • The seating chart will show all available seats, but a seat category locked with a password will only be purchasable once the buyer puts in the code.

  • You can use this for complimentary tickets or for tickets that are only available for VIPs, Staff, Members, etc.

1. To activate this, click Settings > Toggle Password Protected.

Aside from the standard categories, SimpleTix allows you to Add Sub-prices.

  • Sub-prices will allow you to add inclusions to a standard ticket.
  • For example: A reserved seat + drinks, seats with food, seats with merchandise, seats + Meet & Greet. You can customize this to fit your event inclusions.

1. To activate Sub-prices, choose the ticket category you like then enable Add Sub-price.

4. Specify how you'd like the fees charged.

  • Using the recommended fee will pass on the SimpleTix and Payment portal fee to the buyer. The buyer will see an additional charge on top of the ticket price.

  • Setting the fee to zero will deduct the fees from the ticket revenue or the credit card you have on file. This may vary depending on your location or type of payment.

Sub-priced tickets can also be set to Box Office Only.

  • This means that they can only be purchased on-site during live ticket sales in the venue.

1. To do this, toggle the Box Office Only option located on the right section of your sub-priced ticket.
