Use this method to offer a membership discount without forcing members to log in.

The first thing you’ll want to do is prepare a list of member emails as a spreadsheet.
To do this:

  • Open Excel
  • In column A, add member emails making sure only one email is in each cell (emails should be in cells A1, A2, A3, etc.)
  • Save as a CSV file

Now, create a locked ticket for your event.
To do this:

  • From your admin panel, go to Manage Events and select your event
  • Go to the Event Times & Ticket Prices tab
  • Click “+ Add an additional price tier” and create a ticket for members
    • Give your ticket a name like “Member Ticket”
    • Set the Ticket Price to the price you’d like to charge members
    • Set your ticket inventory, service fee, and tickets allowed per order
    • Do NOT check the “Members Only” box
    • Scroll down to “Let’s use a promo code to show/hide lock/unlock this ticket type”
      • Set it as “Display this ticket type – but disable until the eligible promo code is entered”
  • Click “Update Price Group”

Next, you need to add eligible promo codes to this price tier.
To do this:

  • On the Member Ticket line, select “Add Codes”
  • Under Discount, set it to $0.00 Off Per Ticket
  • Under Code Validity, set it to be valid for the entire pre-sale period
  • Set the Code Category by typing in Membership and click Next
  • On this page, set limit eligibility per same event, set the discounted ticket limit to 10, and click Next
  • On this page, select “Upload a spreadsheet list” and upload the CSV file you made earlier
  • It could take a few minutes for all of the emails to appear in the system

After creating your promo codes, you’ll need to make the promo code box visible on the ticket selection page.
To make it visible:

  • Go to Settings & Options > Settings > Layout Options
  • Check the box next to “Do you want to display promo code box on ticket page?”
  • Save

Lastly, on your checkout page, we need to change the promo code link labels to say Membership.
To do this:

  • Go to Settings & Options > Settings > Other Settings
  • Go to the Edit labels page and search for the label
  • Click “Add” next to the label you want to change
  • Edit to the new membership label
    • “Do you have a promo code” becomes “Are you a member? Click here to enter your details”
    • “Promotional Code” becomes “Enter your email address”
    • “Locked - Enter promo code to unlock” becomes “Member Ticket – Confirm membership below”
