# Membership Discounts at the Event Level

> Learn to configure member-only ticket pricing or discounted rates for both general admission and reserved seating events.

# Overview

One of the main perks of memberships is **exclusive or discounted pricing** on events. Below is how to enable and configure these discounts in SimpleTix.

## 1. Setting Discounts in General Admission Events

1. **Log In** → go to **Events** → select your GA event → **Times & Tickets**.
2. **Select Ticket Type**
   * Find the ticket you want discounted for members.
3. **Click the Membership Discount Icon**
   * Or look for a toggle labeled “Add membership discount.”
4. **Configure the Discount**
   * **Flat-rate** (e.g., \$5 off) or **percentage** (e.g., 20% off).
   * Set whether service fees are waived.
   * (Optional) Hide the ticket type from non-members or limit how many discounted tickets each member can buy.
5. **Save** your changes.

## 2. Discounts in Reserved Seating Events

* For **reserved seating**, membership discounts generally apply across the entire seating chart or specific seat categories.
* Steps:
  1. **Events** → select the reserved seating event → **Times & Tickets**.
  2. Look for the **Membership Discount** setting.
  3. Choose your discount style (flat or percent) and fee rules.
  4. **Save**.
* Members must be logged in to see their discounted seat pricing.

## 3. Discounts in Flex Pass Events

* For **flex pass**, membership discounts apply at the ticket level.
* Steps:
  1. **Events** → select the flex pass event → **Ticket Settings**.
  2. Look for the **Membership Discount** setting.
  3. Choose your discount style (flat or percent) and fee rules.
  4. **Save**.
* Members must be logged in to see their discounted seat pricing.

## 4. Testing the Member Experience

1. **Log In as a Member** (or create a test account).
2. **View the Event**: Confirm that discounted ticket options appear.
3. **Check Out**: Ensure the discount is correctly applied before payment.

## 5. Common Scenarios

* **Limit on Discount Usage**: You can cap how many discounted tickets each member can buy per event (e.g., max 4).
* **Non-Member Visibility**: You can hide the membership-only ticket type from the general public.
* **Multiple Membership Types**: If you have multiple tiers (e.g., Bronze gets 10% off, Silver gets 20% off), set each discount rule separately.

## 6. Troubleshooting

* **Members Not Seeing Discounts**
  * Confirm they’re logged into the correct email account associated with the membership.
  * Ensure membership is active (not expired or canceled).
* **Discount Not Applying to All Ticket Types**
  * The discount only applies to the specific ticket type(s) or seat sections you chose. Check settings for each ticket type.
* **Reserved Seating Quirks**
  * Some seat-mapping configurations might always show a base price. The discount only appears at checkout. Test thoroughly.

# Next Steps

Once your **membership discounts** are set, verify everything works by placing a test order. For day-to-day tasks like editing a member’s info, sending free tickets, or emailing members about upcoming events, see [Member Management](./membership-management).
