If you're using a UTF-8 language (complete list), like Thai, you will need to update PayPal to allow special characters.

  1. Log into PayPal
  2. Click the ‘Profile’ link in the menu bar under ‘My Account’
  3. Click the ‘Language Encoding’ link under the ‘Selling Preferences’ column

  4. Click ‘More Options’

  5. Set ‘Encoding’ to ‘UTF-8’
  6. Click ‘Save’

After you do this, the shopping cart items will appear correctly:

Also all of the buyer's details will appear correctly. In this example the Norwegian characters are displaying correctly.
